Contemporary Geometric Beadwork

 

Kate will bring a series of kits and sample pieces with her and work with each student to plan, size, and begin an original piece of work of their own, including any of the shapes, forms and techniques in Contemporary Geometric Beadwork.  Her classes are notable for their range: you will leave with a fuller understanding of the work, and a greater confidence that you have the skill to be able to creatively solve questions of fit, tailoring and to express yourself with needle and thread.  All levels.

 

Kate welcomes beginners and embraces them!  

 

Full Day class with the option to spend Sunday morning with Kate to work on your project, ask questions etc.

Eye of the Storm

 

The focal point of the necklace is a large faceted Swarovski stone captured within a unique bezel.  The bezel is made up of a combination of peyote and netting stitches.  Graceful loops of beadwork and pearls surround the bezel and connect to three multi-layered circular rounds at the base of the bezel.  The necklace straps are made up of herringbone stitch with embellished sections of pearls and contrasting beads.  The closure for the necklace is matching circular rounds of beadwork connected together to create a double loop button.

Full Day class with the option to spend Sunday morning with Kim to work on your project, ask questions etc.

Just a few samples of projects you might like to start with Kate.  Simple to complex, your choice.

Queen of Hearts: Full Day class: Intermediate level  Queen of Hearts is a bead embroidered collar on a beautiful lace/appliqué. Students will learn how to bezel a gorgeous Cabochon hand painted from Brenda Miller, bezel chatons, and learn bead embroidery techniques to embellish this stunning wearable piece of art. 
Several color options will be available, depending on the main cabochon.
Kit with hand painted cabochon $155
Kit without hand painted cabochon (students can bring their own) $80 

 

Medusa: Full Day Class: All levels
Medusa is a pendant where students will embellish their own copper bezel with crystal clay and beads; then they will bead embroider around it using various techniques, beads, and different types of fringe. This pendant is beautiful on a silk ribbon or on a string of pearls. Two colors will be available . Kit $75 

Mariposa : Half day class on Sunday:   All levels  Mariposa is a pendant embroidered on a butterfly lace/appliqué with a hidden bail on a circular peyote necklace. Students will bezel chatons, learn bead embroidery stitches and fringe using a variety of beads and crystals.
Two colors will be available. Kit: $70
